Why chose Lachine?

How to choose a borough to settle in for good in Montreal? Whether you are a Montrealer, a Quebecer or a newcomer, the question arises when you are ready to invest in a property, or even before if you want to make a place your home.



Matthieu and I, although Montrealers, must have had this thought when we wanted to start a family. We then lived in the St-Henri district in the South-West, and loved the atmosphere there. But we felt like something was missing.



Access to water! We sincerely believe that this is the main attraction of Lachine compared to the other boroughs of Montreal. Lachine offers kilometers of parks, bicycle and pedestrian paths on the banks of Lac St-Louis. We enjoy these wide open spaces almost every day, with family, friends or alone. Whether it's running, playing, kayaking or swimming. The possibilities are numerous between:



Summer: paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, rowing, canoeing, volleyball, cycling, skateboarding, etc.
Winter: skating on the lake, cross-country skiing, or simply long winter walks.
But while outdoor sport is crucial to us, so is proximity to the city center. And we feel that in Lachine we do not compromise on either one. We are fond of cultural events, and are never stopped by the distance from the city center when living in Lachine.



Finally, we are proud Montrealers, and love being part of a large cosmopolitan city. However, sometimes you can feel alone in a big city. Lachine has this particularity of making us feel that we live in a village in a big city. Is it because it is off-center? His history? Her size?



We do not really know. But we love knowing our merchants by name and vice versa, going to an open-air show and meeting dozens of familiar faces, having a drink in the alley with our neighbors, and participating in our children's school activities as if it was a small regional school.
